Okay , a new year, a new president, a new start and a new life. Wow it's almost been a year since I've graduated from Ringling, but man, California is a tough market to crack. I thought back home I could at least get a fast food or retail job to pay the bills why I work on my Portfolio, and for about 5 months I was living in Orange County and nothing panned out, the economy was bad everywhere, so I was offered the chance to move back home and I took it. I feel like I've come back full circle and it feels so weird to be back home to the Inland Empire, but I knew why I wanted to come home, because my family is there to be my safety net, and I'm really grateful they've put me up and supported me in my decision to be an artist.
I need to borrow some of my mom's confidence, we've been both through emotional hell this past week and finding a glimmer of hope of me getting a couple of art jobs takes all the gloom and doom away. That does it she's going to be my agent or manager, because she always has been my publicity machine..and well she seems to know and talk to everybody, so I have to learn to do that , shy as I am.
As on the art side I hope to have some art samples done for a children's books series for the writer in my Mom's Foster care support group. It's going to help support and help Foster Kids know they are not alone. I want to do it, to reach out to my Foster Siblings who were moved into brand new foster homes and now have to adjust all over again, so girls this one is dedicated to you, whereever you are adapt, grow and be happy and give your new foster parents a chance.
I also hope to find a job learning graphic design, so I hope I can get to them my portfolio and resume and that they call me for an interview. When I met the contact I only had my outdated business card,my tiny sketch book and my weblinks to where i posted some of digital work, so having sites like this saved my Bacon( hehe character joke), so I didn't feel empty handed. Moral be prepared, bring your portfolio or put it on website..you never know the many you bump into or meet through an aqquaintence could be your next client.
I'll be getting back to working on my graphic novel, it's I've had to deal with more than I bargained for last year, so once i get settled , aain, in my new place; then I can start finishing chapters one and two and flesh out chapter three. WOOT, I hope to get it done eventually, it will be a labor of love, but it will be nice to be published too.
So that's what's been happening with my friends and fellow alumni from Ringling, What's been happening with you? Please Comment and let me know!! I'm dying to here from everyone! XD
